Workplace Walking Program Engagement & Motivation

Once your workplace walking program has started, you will need to find ways to motivate participants to continue and remain active in the long-term. This includes:

  • Reducing negative attitudes towards exercise and walking in particular
  • Enabling participants to continue through providing organized clinics and programs; education about, and opportunities to, increase activity levels (i.e. adding an extra 10 minute bout of walking every second day); and access to facilities at affordable prices (i.e. indoor walking tracks)
  • Continuous education and reinforcing the benefits of remaining active

Examples of motivation and engagement programs are:

  • Incentive Programs
  • Recognition Programs
  • Challenges
  • And more...
