Workplace Walking

Our community (Village of Salmo) is not listed in the Kootenays region dropdown menu on the walking map. How can we be added?

Workplace Walking Program - Awareness & Education

Educating staff and creating awareness can be thought of as a "campaign." Your campaign content will likely include:

  • Education about why it's important to live actively
  • The minimum amount of walking required for health benefits
  • How to incorporate this "minimum amount of walking" into our daily lives (i.e. 3 - 15 minute intervals of walking at a moderate pace)
  • How to take part in the workplace walking program
  • How to encourage others to participate

By educating staff and increasing awareness, you're helping to break down barriers that keep people from taking part in your walking program. It is important to tailor your "campaign" contents to address people differently-based on their current activity levels.

There are a variety of ways to educate your workplace:

  • Company newsletters
  • Posters
  • Walking clinics
  • And more...
