It all started at the beginning of May 2009 when Darlene Mackay of Cranbrook, BC put on an Urban Pole Walking Workshop. She had six ladies attend and try it.
"These 6 ladies were interested in continuing so we decided on a date and began our journey. Since then we have not missed a Wednesday except for one day of bad weather," says Darlene.
The group has been walking for about three months now, "Cranbrook has some beautiful trails and surrounding area for us to take advantage of the beautiful scenery," she says. To-date, Darlene has relied on ‘word of mouth' for program growth, "it is awesome to see how much people really enjoy walking together in a group atmosphere... they often say to me ‘Are we already done?'"
We'll check back and see how Darlene's group is doing in September.
